DEADLINE FOR TAX APPEALS
For residents of the City of St. Louis, appeals from your 2009 real estate tax assessment must be filed with the Assessor's Office by no later than the second Monday in July - July 13, 2009.
Forms for filing the tax appeal can be obtained at the Board of Equalization: Board of Equalization, City Hall, Room 120,
St. Louis MO 63103.
Although the general basis for the tax appeal and the opinion as to the market value on January 1, 2009, must be stated on the tax appeals forms, there is no requirement that the supporting data be provided for commercial or residential properties at the time of the filing of the appeal.
Even if you are not prepared to give a detailed explanation as to your opinion of value, it is important to file before the deadline. If you miss the filing deadline, you lose your right to appeal and the assessed value as determined by the Assessor will be used to calculate your taxes for 2009 and 2010.
