In ranking the cities, Forbes examined three critieria: (1) even distribution of sales activity across the local market, (2) increase or decrease in price per square foot, and (3) transaction rates as evidence of market activity. Here is how St. Louis fared in the Forbes survey:
- Price per square foot increased 2% in March, 2009, over March, 2008.
- Transactions increased 23.4% in March, 2009, over March, 2008.
- Sales Activitiy by Zip Codes with 25% of Sales: 29%.
